The modern educational and scientific mission of the Museum of Biomedicine and its Historical Library receives further momentum with the "MORPHENDO" project. The purpose of this program is to build an informatic archive of scientific, historical and artistic contributions and publications dealing with the cultural intersection between morphology and endocrinology, both at basic and clinical levels, including national and international biomedical Collections. The project is a collaborative effort with the Director of the Endocrine Division at Tufts Medical Center - Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, MA, USA.
The structure of the archive is consistent with the most recent views of "evidence-based" clinical anatomy advocated by the national Core Curriculum to obtain a European MD degree. It also fulfils the fundamental requirements of scientific promotion recommended for the scientific museums by the italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR).
